Over the past three years, the centre has organized various activities to reach out and engage students and the larger community both inside the university and outside.
The Centre introduced itself to the student community at FLAME, by announcing a Mock Parliament competition. The contest involved students reading and researching a hypothetical Constitutional amendment (prepared internally), familiarizing themselves with the procedure of arguing for and against it in Parliament, from the respective standpoints of a government and an opposition, and voting on it.
We initiated student awareness on fake news by conducting a workshop with Tattle on fact-checking in March 2023. The first conference on misinformation was held in Bangalore in May 2023 by FIELDS OF VIEW To encourage younger engagement with policy and law making, games devised by Fields of View are proving to be an effective learning tool and we staged this during the city wide Mock Parliament in March 2023.
March 2023: The Mock Parliament really was a landmark event for us given the interest it generated locally and the intense participation of 100+ students from Pune. It was action packed with talks and workshops and we hope to do even more next year.
